Washing bumGenius nappies

• Remove solid waste and the store in a dry pail (wet bag or bucket)
• Rinse nappies before washing either by hand or on a machine rinse cycle
• Hot wash nappies with a small amount of detergent, do not add anything else like vinegar or baking soda
• Never use fabric softener
• Air dry or tumble dry nappies.  Only put the inserts in a tumble dryer, we do not recommend tumble drying covers on a regular basis
• To remove stains line dry nappies in the sunshine, it's like magic, stains just disappear
• If your nappies smell then wash them again
• Do not soak or boil your nappies (it's not 1950 anymore)

Which detergent to use with bumGenius cloth nappies

Unnecessary additives and brighteners in some detergents can ruin your cloth nappies, cause nappy rash or stop them from being absorbent.  Always use a detergent free from perfumes, dyes, whiteners, optical brighteners, softeners, enzymes or other fabric enhancers.  many supermarket detergents do contain these ingredients so if you must use them only use a quarter of the normal amount you would use.  At Babi Pur we sell a range of detergents that are suitable for cloth nappies.

Looking after hook & loop (velcro) closures

• Try not to wash hook & loop closures with heavy cotton or bamboo fabrics.  The lint gets caught in the closures.
• If you have lint in the closures use a fine comb or pin to remove it
• If the closures still aren't sticking them the hooks may have relaxed (this happens if you only air dry).  Pop the nappies in a hot dryer and this will cause the hooks to hook again.
