Moon Cup - Menstrual Cup

Description

Mooncup - Reusable Menstrual Cup

The Mooncup is the reusable menstrual cup and is becoming a more and more popular alternative to tampons.  This soft silicone rubber cup is worn internally and collects menstrual fluid,  it is not disposable so you only need to buy one.  The cup forms a light seal with the vaginal wall allowing fluid to pass into the mooncup without any leaks or odour.  The Mooncup allows the natural mucus membranes of your vaginal wall to carry on their essential cleansing and protective functions, no deposits will be left in the vagina and it will not cause irritation.  The Mooncup is a fantastic eco friendly alternative to disposable pads and tampons.  Available in two sizes, size guide below.

I really think these are brilliant! I had heard of them before I had my baby, but didn't really fancy the idea. However, after I had given birth I couldn’t bear the thought of using tampons. I was still a bit sore 3 months down the line and tampons are so drying for me. I just used disposable pads the first time I had a period (which I hated), so I bit the bullet and went and bought a moon cup. I was a bit scared of the size, but then I looked at the baby - who had come out of there 3 or 4 months previously - and felt a bit better! It took me around 3 cycles to really get the hang of it and to not accidentally put it in wonky and have the stem poking me (which I did have to trim a fair bit) etc, but now (baby is 9 and a half months) I absolutely love it. Other minor issues I had to begin with were that I found taking it out a bit tricky at times (but after a couple of cycles I got used to this - make sure you keep it folded slightly and don't let go until it's completely out!) and sometimes I folded it too tightly when putting it in, so it didn't pop out straight away. The leaflet that came with it had lots of insertion and removal advice and their website has a useful FAQ section if needed. I also now use reusable pads too, which are much nicer and mean I'm saving even more money in the long run! My periods seem lighter than before and I’ve not once had to take painkillers, whereas I would for at least one day before. I don’t know whether this is down to the moon cup (as other people also find) or if my periods have changed since having my baby, but I’m not going to complain! My overall verdict - brilliant! You may need a bit of practice (I know I did), but persistence is definitely worth it for this product!..

I wish I'd tried one of these sooner, like about 18 years sooner. It would have saved me a fortune not to mention the discomfort and inconvenience of any other product. You soon get the hang of it, I can now go on cycle rides for hours on end and actually forget I'm on my period. I can take the kids swimming regardless of what date is on the calendar. Yeah, the idea of something different kind of freaks you out to start with, but just go ahead, buy one, you won't regret it...

I"ve used the Moon Cup for more than 5 years now and have never looked back. As the other reviewers have said there is a knack to it but it quickly becomes 2nd nature. I used it travelling around India for a year where it was truely a god send. Strangely enough my periods themselves were also easier; can't explain why- but why question it! Try it and enjoy...

I've been using my mooncup for about 5 or more years now. I've never looked back. I love it. I try to tell people how amazing these are but its crazy just how many people are so squeamish. I really think these should be shown in schools when they have their 'periods' talk! I bet they aren't. Probably sponsored by the big tampon companies with samples. But if young girls have heard of these before they get used to using horrible products like disposable tampons and plastic sanitary towels, then i think it would not become such an odd product for them...

An absolutely brilliant product! I heard about it from a friend and have never looked back. It's easy to forget you're having a period at all with the mooncup. No discomfort and it slips in and out much more comfortably than a tampon. It took me a few goes to get used to using it, but once I got the hang of it, it was quick and easy. And it feels good knowing I'm doing my bit for the environment too :)..
