I had no idea what nappies to get when I decided on this mixed flip kit. Have now been using them for 5 months and very pleased with my decision! After a little bit of practice they're easy to use. I used them on my baby from when she was about 2 weeks old (weighing around 8 1/2lb). However I do think the stay dry inserts are much better than the organic cotton, they keep the baby really dry, dry quickly and are much less bulky. The organic cotton are slow to dry and only really stay soft if tumble-dried, which isn't ideal. Have heard they are more absorbent though, so better for older babies & toddlers. I've also occasionally used disposable nappies and have to say I prefer the using the flip nappies, my baby's less prone to rashes when wearing them, and they are less leaky. The flips are also not that much more bulky than a disposable nappy, and I'm sure they're more comfy for the baby to wear as they feel nice and soft. Excellent choice of re-useable nappy! Would definitely recommend...

We have been using the Flip Nappy for about 4 months now and they really do the job well and the only time we had continuous leaks was when we had them on the wrong size setting - the transition from the smallest size to the middle when baby is about 2 months old! Other than that, everything stays contained and is such good value for money when compared to disposables - Remember to get your £50 voucher off the real nappy scheme if it exists in your area - check out http://www.goreal.org.uk/ under Regional Schemes. Of course they are not perfect but no system is. The only things to note are - the microfibre inserts are the easiest to clean and dry so good if you know a poo is coming (but the cotton is softer). Poos don't really get contained within the liners (I have tried several types) and there always seems to be poo on the outer itself. So 6 outers aren't really enough as baby gets older (I have bought some more today). If you live in a house without a utility room I just dunk the nappies in the toilet whilst flushing to get rid of any excess poo that has gone astray and put in the nappy bucket - we also have a bidet which is good for rinsing. There are also special hose attachments for the toilet (called a douchette I think) which I have seen in Europe, US and South East Asia which may be handy to hose off excess poo but I have not researched further about how to buy/attach etc. For a boy you will find that wee does get on the outer, but in order to re-use without washing, I give it a cursory rinse with water in the affected area and put on the window sill to dry for the next time. To create a good night time nappy, use a cotton insert and a new born micro-fibre on top - 98% foolproof to last 12 hours. Otherwise we use the bamboo pop-in for night which is lovely and comfortable, but takes a couple of days to dry the inserts. It is too bad that the covers are not funkier, but when you look at the alternatives such as Weehuggers and Gen-Y they come in different sizes, so you would have to buy new outers as the baby grows. Flips seem much more economical in my opinion...

I love my FLIPS - the organic inserts are best as a night time nappy and the stay dry inserts are practical as they dry really quickly. The best thing about these nappies is that they aren't bulky and the covers are really easy to use. I would highly recommend these nappies to anyone who is thinking of using reusable nappies...
