Grimm's Building Set Four Temperaments

A large wooden block set bringing together the four temperaments using the language of form and colour. The Grimm’s Four Temperaments Building Set is a made up of 61 colourful free form pieces. This large eco puzzle set is a fantastical depiction of the four temperaments recognised in Waldorf education: Sanguine, Choleric, Phlegmatic and Melancholic.

Waldorf teachings recognise the characters of the four temperaments that make up everyone’s personality. How these temperaments balance and blend, influence how we feel, think and respond to life’s experiences in a unique and individual way. Do you recognise these qualities in yourself or your children?

The Melancholic temperament is represented in blue and characterised by spiralling inward into the depths, with edges and curves, and signifying endurance. It corresponds to the Earth element and has a compassionate if rather sad nature.
The Choleric temperament is red and is represented with jagged and sharp-edged pieces. Its impulsiveness is characteristic of the element of Fire, with an active and fiery nature.
The Phlegmatic temperament is represented in green, with its soft, curved, flowing shapes corresponding to its element Water. This temperament is steady and content, still like the surface of a pond.
The Sanguine temperament is represented in yellow and radiates cheerfulness and optimism. With Air as its element its characteristics shine from within, and dreamy in nature.

The 61 pieces are all 4cm thick and sit in a frame measuring 44.5 x 44.5cm. Suitable for 3+ years
