Bumbu Toys Handmade Wooden Stacking Watermelon

The Bumbu Toys Wooden Watermelon Stacking Toy is an eight-piece wooden stacker with all the building possibilities of a stacking rainbow and a watermelon design for pretend play too. Its curved pieces nest together into a colourful watermelon slice, complete with green rind, pink and red flesh, and painted black seeds.

Stack and balance the pieces, build tunnels for toy cars, or serve up watermelon at a teddy bears’ picnic. We love how easily this one moves between the building blocks and the play kitchen, with plenty of scope for children to try their own ideas.

Children can nest the pieces in size order, experiment with balancing them, and work out which shapes will support another. Add wooden blocks, animals, or vehicles to see what else they can build. Made by hand in Bumbu’s workshop in Bran, Romania, the watermelon is crafted from maple wood and painted with non-toxic colours. There’s skilled work in shaping the nesting curves and adding the stripes and seeds, with the natural character of the wood still part of the finished toy.

Lovely for a summer nature table or a play kitchen display, and just as useful for building tunnels on a rainy afternoon in November.

Care: Keep dry. Bumbu advises that the red colour can transfer to other surfaces when it comes into contact with water or saliva. The colour is non-toxic, but transfer can still occur. Do not get the toy wet.

About the wood

Each piece begins with a tree, and its grain, growth rings, knots, and darker markings can remain visible in the finished toy. These natural features, together with variations in colour and texture, give each piece its own character and a connection to the tree it came from. Natural wood markings are expected characteristics rather than faults, every tree and every toys is unique so your toy may look a little different from the photographs.
