Glückskäfer Summer Wooden Building Blocks - 12 Piece Set

The Glückskäfer Summer Wooden Building Blocks are a 12-piece set of colourful linden wood stacking blocks in unusual curved and organic shapes, with a wooden frame that can also become part of the play. Stack and balance them into towers and buildings, spread them out to create hills, landscapes and small worlds, or use the frame as a floor or base for bigger constructions.

Unlike standard square and rectangular blocks, the flowing shapes make children think a little differently about balance, shape and construction. A curved piece might become a hill, roof or bridge, while another becomes part of a tower, a landscape or an imaginative building. Glückskäfer designed these blocks for both creative construction and landscape play, with shapes that can become lakes, mountains, rocks, fields and meadows. 

For younger children, play can begin with handling the chunky pieces, stacking a few together, arranging them in the frame and exploring which shapes will balance. There is plenty of trial and error involved, encouraging hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness and early problem solving without needing a set way to play.

As children get older, the same blocks can become part of more ambitious towers, houses, towns, landscapes and small-world scenes. Add figures, animals, cars, loose parts or other wooden blocks and the unusual shapes become really interesting building materials, with plenty of scope for imaginative construction.

The wooden frame is much more than storage too. Use it as a floor for a house, a platform for a building, a base for a small-world scene or part of a larger construction, then fit all 12 blocks back inside when play is finished.

With no finished model to copy and no single correct way to use them, these are the sort of open-ended wooden blocks that can be played with very differently as children get older, from early stacking and sorting to elaborate building, balancing and imaginative play.

Made in Germany from linden wood, with gently curved surfaces and colourful stained finishes that allow the natural character of the wood to remain visible. The tactile wooden surface also gives the pieces useful grip when children start experimenting with taller and more adventurous builds.
