To celebrate Chinese New Year, Babipur Buddy Sarah (Ig @TheClanMurray) has created a new DIY silhouette for the Toverlux Magic Lamp. A simple lantern design, made with a compass (or anything round), crayons, paint, and a blank DIY sheet.
That’s really all you need.
The beauty of the Toverlux DIY Sheets is that they invite you to have a go. No pre-printed design, no rules. Just a blank sheet cut to the right size for the Magic Lamp, ready for whatever you want to create.

Sarah kept this one very simple. A circle for the lantern, drawn slightly above centre. Crayon for the outline and details. Soft washes of watercolour layered over the top. A few stars, a warm glow, and once it’s dry, it slides straight into the lamp.

When the light goes on, the lantern comes to life.
This is such a lovely way to mark Chinese New Year, but the idea works just as well for any season or celebration. Moons, suns, birds, leaves, colours, patterns. The lamp becomes a place to show your own artwork, changing it whenever you feel like it.
Sarah also added a tiny amount of oil to the back of the sheet in a few places to highlight the glow. Just a light touch on areas like the stars can make them shine more brightly once the lamp is on. This step is completely optional, but it’s a lovely little detail if you want to experiment.
You can find the Toverlux Magic Lamp, DIY Silhouette Sheets, and ÖkoNORM crayons and watercolours at Babipur.
