Used on its own, the Mader My First Spinning Top is rated Level 2 on the Mader difficulty scale, making it a good choice for beginners who are learning the classic twist-and-flick movement. Once your child has mastered the basic technique, the included matching starter accessory adds a new challenge, increasing the difficulty to Level 4.

To get the top spinning really fast, wind the string around the stem, place the starter cap over the top, pull the string, and release. This helps the spinning top move faster and spin for longer, while encouraging patience, concentration, hand-eye coordination, and plenty of practice. Each wooden top is hand turned from a single piece of wood and passes through up to 20 skilled processes, including turning, burning, carving, and hand painting. Non-toxic colours are used to create Mader’s distinctive finish, making each spinning top a small beauty with traditional appeal.
