Naef Spiel - 100 Year Anniversary Kurt Naef | Celebrating a Century of Swiss Wooden Toy Design

Anniversary Edition: Celebrating 100 years since the birth of Naef founder Kurt Naef.

The 100 Year Anniversary Edition of the Naef Spiel honours Kurt Naef, the visionary designer who founded Naef and created some of the most recognisable wooden toys of the twentieth century. Released to mark a century since his birth, this anniversary set brings together one of his best-loved designs with a special commemorative presentation. It shares the same blocks, colours and packaging as the limited Signature Edition, without the printed signature and individual numbering, which makes this celebration of Naef’s legacy available to more collectors and families.

The colours are taken directly from the earliest Naef toys of the 1960s: warm orange, sunny yellow, fresh green and calm blue, brought to life with Naef’s distinctive satin finish. That finish brings out the clean lines and tactile surfaces of each piece, so the set is as satisfying to look at as it is to handle.

First designed by Kurt Naef and still made today, the Naef Spiel is built around his ingenious interlocking teeth. The cubes connect, balance and stack in countless arrangements, creating forms that feel at once architectural and playful. Every block is hand-sanded to a tolerance of a tenth of a millimetre, so the pieces lock together with a precision you can feel.

This anniversary set includes 15 full-sized interlocking cubes alongside 8 mini cubes at half the scale. Combining the two sizes adds new layers to building, from delicate towers to intricate sculptural structures, and gives even long-time Naef fans fresh ways to explore a classic design.

The set arrives in a beautiful UV spot varnished box that is just as much a part of the piece as the blocks inside, made to be displayed on a shelf or desk. A commemorative booklet tells the story of Kurt Naef and the pioneering designs that made Naef a name treasured by collectors around the world.

Whether it becomes a centrepiece in a design collection, a calming object on an office desk, or a cherished toy shared across generations, the Naef Spiel is a timeless piece of Swiss craftsmanship. Made from sustainably sourced maple wood, this anniversary edition is a wonderful way to celebrate 100 years of Kurt Naef and the enduring designs that continue to inspire. Babipur is delighted to offer this special edition to everyone who appreciates beautifully made wooden toys.
