We’re so pleased to now be stocking Zaytoun’s Palestinian Olive Oil and Medjoul Dates at Babipur. Both are Fairtrade, both are produced by small farming communities in Palestine, and both are absolutely delicious.

The olive oil is extra virgin, Fairtrade and organic, and it really is something special. It’s made from hand-picked olives grown on ancient trees tended by Palestinian farming families. The flavour is rich, smooth and full of character, and every bottle carries with it centuries of tradition. Buying this oil doesn’t just bring a beautiful staple into your kitchen, it helps protect farmers’ livelihoods and olive groves that face constant pressure from occupation and land confiscation. For many families, olive oil is not only their main income but also their connection to the land, passed down through generations.

And then there are the dates. Palestinian Medjoul dates are known around the world as the best you can buy. They are large, soft, sweet and packed with goodness. At Babipur we’ve chosen to stock smaller packs which are perfect for everyday snacking, as well as a huge 5kg box that offers fantastic value. However you buy them, you’ll taste the difference straight away.

We cannot ignore the fact that life for Palestinian farmers is incredibly difficult. Access to their own land and water is restricted, harvests are disrupted, and many face harassment simply for trying to farm. These are families trying to make a living in circumstances most of us cannot imagine, and yet they continue with strength and resilience.

This is why Fair Trade matters so much. It means farmers are paid fairly, given a reliable market, and supported to keep going even when the odds are stacked against them. For us at Babipur, promoting and supporting Palestinian farmers feels more important now than ever. Every bottle of olive oil and every box of dates is a small act of solidarity, showing that these producers matter and that their work is valued.

Fair Trade has been at the heart of Babipur from the very beginning. It’s the reason we started and it continues to guide everything we do.
