Crafting Magical Window Stars - Waldorf Star Craft Book by Frédérique Guéret

Do you want to learn how to make beautiful Waldorf window stars?

In Crafting Magical Window Stars, artist Frédérique Guéret shows how simple sheets of coloured paper can be transformed into luminous folded decorations that glow in the window. This inspiring craft book teaches the Waldorf paper folding techniques used to create intricate window star crafts for every season.

What Are Waldorf Window Stars?
Waldorf window stars are decorative paper stars made by folding translucent paper into geometric shapes and layering the pieces together. When placed in a window, the overlapping colours allow light to shine through, creating a glowing stained-glass effect.

These beautiful window decorations are commonly used in Waldorf-inspired homes and classrooms, where they celebrate colour, light and seasonal change. As the sunlight shifts throughout the day, the layered paper colours create constantly changing patterns of light.

What Materials Are Used for Waldorf Window Stars?
The traditional material used to make Waldorf window stars is translucent waxed kite paper, sometimes called glassen paper. This paper is strong enough to hold crisp folds while still allowing light to pass through the colours.

When several folded pieces of kite paper are layered together, the colours blend to create the glowing effect that makes window stars so distinctive.

At Babipur, we stock Mercurius kite paper, which is specially designed for folded window star crafts and other Waldorf-inspired paper projects. Window stars can also be made using Japanese silk paper or coloured tissue paper.

Learn to Make 25 Window Star Designs
This beautifully illustrated craft book includes step-by-step instructions for 25 window stars, ranging from simple designs for beginners to more intricate geometric patterns.

Each project includes clear diagrams and inspiring colour photographs, allowing children and adults to build paper-folding skills gradually and confidently. The stars are graded by difficulty so you can begin with easier designs and progress to more advanced folded stars.

About the Author
Frédérique Guéret was born in France and trained as an artist before developing her own paper-folding techniques using translucent tissue paper. Her window star designs were first published in 1999 and have inspired crafters, teachers and families around the world.
