What is a heavy wetter?

Every baby is unique, with different needs, and some wee more than others. They go through different phases and stages as they develop and their nappy absorbency requirements will change as they grow. There's no absolute definition of a 'heavy wetter' but if you are finding your baby's nappy is soaked through within an hour, you may want to look at a more thirsty nappy.

Our first tip would be to stay calm and positive, even though it can be frustrating changing multiple soaked nappies a day. If your nappies are leaking but not soaked, check out our fit guide on the blog here.

It's likely that the nappies you already have can still be used with just a tweak in the absorbency. By adding extra boosters (or inserts) you will increase the capacity of your nappy. Choose extra thirsty natural materials such as bamboo, charcoal and hemp over synthetic materials such as minkee. Experiment with adding extra boosters to the front or centre to where absorbency is needed most.

If your little one is still out-peeing their nappy and you've added as much extra absorbency as you can, then the following nappies should give great results:

GroVia ONE reusable nappy

The combination of cotton and microfibre gives the GroVia O.N.E. nappy a high level of absorbency and a built in booster provides absorbency combinations to suit your baby. This super absorbent nappy is completely tumble dryable and comes with two inserts made from cotton and micro-terry. Fully boosted, you could get around 4 hours from this nappy and its a good night time nappy option as well.

Baba & Boo reusable nappies for a heavy wetter

We wouldn't normally suggest a pocket nappy for super-wetters, but there must be magic in Baba + Boo nappies! With two super absorbent inserts and a lovely internal double gusset for containment, these nappies consistently perform brilliantly in the absorbency department! If in doubt add an extra bamboo booster, but this can make the nappy a bit on the bulky side, and ensure there's no gapping around the legs otherwise you could end up with leaks.

Petit Lulu Maxi Night Nappy and pull-up wrap

An easy to adjust fitted nappy, the Petit Lulu Maxi nappy has a huge area for absorption and comes highly recommended by lots of our customers. Add an extra long Petit Lulu bamboo insert where you need it and a pull-up wrap over the top. This is a great choice for over night too and has a slimmer fit than some of the other options.
