Coach House Pre-Writing Tracing Boards

This pair of Wooden Pre-Writing Tracing Boards by The Little Coach House are double-sided boards to encourage those first lines and shapes needed before letter and number formation. These Tracing boards includes a beech wood dowel to practice tracing the shapes. These handmade boards are a wonderful Montessori teaching resource that will support children’s pre-writing and mark making skills.

The Little Coach House wooden prewriting tracing board is perfect for children in early years education, helping with the formation of lines and shapes needed to create letters. One board focuses on the earliest lines required to form letters - four straight lines in horizontal, vertical and diagonal format, with them joined together in a zig-zag patterns on the reverse. The second board is slightly more challenging and has a series of circles and crosses on one side and curved and wavy patterns on the reverse. Children develop the skills for helping with shape recognition as they fill the different shapes and lines with items such as beads or rice. Later, children will build up muscle memory in their hands as they practice tracing each shape and line with their fingers or using the tracing stick, ideal preparation for putting pen to paper. The tracing stick helps develop the tripod grip for when they are ready to hold a pencil.
